Conceptualizing or Building, which takes you more effort?
(Joey Ruiter) Building. It’s easy to conceptualize quickly, it’s very difficult to take it to a real level. That’s what separates renderings from real. It’s like a restaurant that just shows you photos of food you might want to eat. Frustrating. I can’t build everything think about but it helps to make some of it real.

Means of transportation is more than ‘Carrying people from point A to point B’. What is the role of designer for the future of transportation?
(JR) The new transport roles are including objects to meet us places as well. Maybe my favorite bike meets me in a new city then leaves when I’m done with it. 

After planes, trains, cars and boats. What is the fifth mode of transportation to you?
(JR) “Digital Presence.”

What was the first object you ever built from the scratch? and why is it so important for designer to ‘make their hands dirty’?
(JR) I think I was making toys that I couldn’t get at the store. It’s important to know what it takes to cut, bend, glue, etc.. because at some point someone will need to build the object. If it is rough, or toxic, or painful, we shouldn’t ask others to do it. I think it’s really weird to divorce oneself from that and pretend horrible things are not happening from the things we have designed.
